We stopped by at super time on New Years Eve. Not a good idea – make a reservation. They were able to accommodate us by seating us at the bar. David was our waiter and he was superb. He described the items we questioned him about, made suggestions and made the best darn Prickly Pear Margarita I have ever tasted. Best service we received in Sedona. Daughter had the tofu dish which she thoroughly enjoyed. The husband and I had their signature dish “Pecan Crusted Trout”. There is a good reason why people come from around the world to try this dish. The trout comes from a local fish farm and it was cooked perfectly. We ran into the owner “Phyllis” in the parking lot on our way into the restaurant. She was very friendly and invited us back for breakfast and lunch. We had such a great time we actually did return the next day for lunch. Kobe burger, veggie burger and lemon stuffed french toast is what we ordered. Every meal was great and special. Nothing ordinary here! They also have great cookbook for sale. If you are in Sedona – you must eat here.

After having a wonderful dinner in June of 2013 we returned to Heartline during our November 2013 visit and we had another wonderful meal! On our first visit we both had the filet mignon that was cooked perfectly accompanied by a delectable salad. In November we tried the Gnocchi and the Pistachio Crusted Chicken and both were delightful! We ended the meal by sharing a Tiramisu Cheesecake finishing our visit with an exclamation point! Highly recommend Heartline!

Sedona is beautiful to look at, but probably hard to live in, and for sure hard to eat in. Charging a lot does not make you fine dining H..Rox…., and refusing to take reservations so everyone can stand in line for 90 minutes will serve you well for your 15 minutes (max) of fame EL.., but …great, even good, foodie/edgy venues’ are hard to come by in Sedona. If the price of the buy in Sedona is too high for new/any creativity, I suggest circling back to the originals … or so was my plan after these flat falls.
Heartland, dated name, what can I expect, 20 experience, and glowing reviews. Our dinners were excellent, the staff was experienced, and the pacing was perfect. It was not until I went to the restroom that I was disappointed, no the urinals were fine, but it was then that I could see the outdoor patio and it was the same size as the interior space. It is October and how many more chances do we have for outside dinning? Perhaps they think we know of the choice, but as a stranger, how could you?? Okay work on that a little Heartline, but otherwise what you have been doing for the last 20 years seems excellent to me and for sure if there is a next time in Sedona, I will, promise, include Heartline Cafe.

Despite the the name of the restaurant which includes the word “cafe”, this is an upscale restaurant that is serious about its food. It is very popular with the locals in Sedona, but not so well-known to the tourist. Its menu is varied and everything is well-prepared. The service is smooth and excellent and, maybe, best of all, it has a quiet ambience.
Make a reservation to be sure to get in. Parking is a pain, so go by and check it out in the daylight because it is hard to see where to park after dark.

When visiting Sedona I would say this a “must” dining experience. It’s a big step above the average breakfast. And the lovely veranda is a great way to start the day. Heads up, though, they don’t open until 8am.

Just left the Heartline Cafe and we were pleasantly surprised with the food. From the outside the place doesn’t look to safe. Inside is very nicely done and feel warm and cozy. Menu is small but thoughtful. Coffee was great, service was amazing. We enjoyed the chorizo and eggs and the Mexican Eggs Benedict. Very tasty lots of good flavors. We would visit Heartline again on our next trip to Sedona.

We love the Heartline for breakfast. Today we had the crab Benedict which was delicious. The restaurant is very cozy and charming. Wait staff very pleasant. We plan at least one visit here per trip to Sedona.

My new Husband and I had the amazing experience to have Heartline cater our wedding last week!! Ever since we first stopped by the food was something out of this world. Everything we’ve had has been delicious and difficult to put down no matter how stuffed we are. The catering was incredible. We’ve always had dried out food when it was served buffet style but not this time. It was like eating at the restaurant but at our venue!! We love Phyllis!! The Heartline is one of those places that I forget exists, until I go there again and wonder why I don’t come more often!!
Since they have shut down the daytime cafe, I find it much easier to figure out the situation there. It used to be in two buildings, one for breakfast and lunch, one for dinner. It was a little confusing. It’s all in one now, with a beautiful outdoor garden seating area. Bistro-like.
I am gluten-free (verifiably allergic!) and was super please to see many things on the menu MARKED as gluten free, vegan, or dairy free! But it was not super-imposing as if to communicate that was the priority. It was very discreetly made note of, which lends to a nice “Friendly to all” atmosphere, with no priority except good good food, accessible for everyone.
The waitress I had recently was hilariously spacy. She wasn’t sure if they had gluten free options for bread or chips, but then the owner/manager came out and placed 3 items of gluten free options for dipping and spreading on the table!
I appreciated the ambience, the casual feel of the place, and the excellent condition of the food. Everything super fresh and flavorful.
Their hummus plate is STACKED with hummus and veggies, not sparse like many other places
And their veggie burger is homemade with Quinoa, its mammoth!! and it is probably the best homemade veggie burger I”ve ever had.
Omelets are thick and fluffy, so good.

I always come here when I am in Sedona. Everything is so nicely prepared. I really hate their sign, so I would have never stopped here had it not been recommended to me but trust me the inside does not match the outside. The food is always fantastic, and the staff friendly and helpful, the service excellent.
And please, take my advise- try the trout!!!

Went to Heartline Cafe for our anniversary dinner and it was amazing! Got seated right away. Server was friendly and attentive, but not pesky. The Cesar salad is sooo good, comes with anchovies, so you know it’s the real deal (they do ask if you are ok with having them on top of the salad tho). I got the bacon-wrapped filet, came with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables, it was cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly, and was delicious! I almost always have to season my steak, but didn’t even notice that there was no salt and pepper on the tables until afterward….obviously they know how to season food if they don’t put salt and pepper on the table. My husband got the special which was Seafood Cioppino, with everything from mussels to scallops to calamari, loaded with seafood. It was out of this world! I usually don’t like seafood and this looked like the usual “weird” thing my husband would get, but I tried it, and I wanted to keep eating his! Everything cooked and seasoned perfectly! For dessert we shared the fruit tart, which was also amazing!! Flaky pastry, filled with cream, which was sweet but not too sweet and fresh berries on top…we were fighting over it, and scraping the plate and my husband doesn’t usually eat dessert! Everything was cooked to absolute perfection and the service was excellent! Definitely going back next time we are in Sedona!

The tea smoked chicken dumplings were huge and tasted great, especially paired with their sauce.
The almond crusted cod with mango topping was also incredible and came with a sizable fresh house salad with cranberries and almonds. The vegetables that came with the entree wer cooked very well and also tasted delicious.
For dessert Tammy, our server, recommended the poached pear with cinnamon ice cream and caramel sauce which was also incredible.
Everything we had was amazing, Tammy our server was super friendly and helpful, everything came out quickly, and we sat outside in their cute garden courtyard. Could not have asked for a better meal! We will definitely be coming back many more times in the future!

As a Chef its not very often that a small restaurant really WOW’s you with not only their staff, menu, food, and selections. My biggest complaint is that I didn’t discover heartline café years ago when I first started going to Sedona for my mini Tucson escape weekends. I went in yesterday for lunch, Late. It was pretty quiet. The outside has a huge catfish dressed as a chef… Im already intrigued. I ordered - My sandwich was cooked perfectly – The Cuban Panini. Juicy pork, crisp pickle, - The red cabbage slaw on the side was out of this world tasty. it was not a creamy slaw – and it had the most delightful golden raisins – SO GOOD.
I am headed back to seonda next month. REST assured that I will be returning – there are too many amazing breakfast options I MUST try.
The food is fresh, well prepared, was served delightfully ( the staff didn’t even blink about my usual-cheffy questions like – what are your best sellers, and then what do you eat whenever you can get it?)

My fiance and I first found out about this establishment at the Sedona Bridal Fair. We spoke with the people there and then went to the actual restaurant. There, we had the Cuban Paninni Sandwich and it was amazing. The bread was perfectly grilled and toasty, and the pork with juicy and tender. We also spoke with the owner who is delightful, and got a copy of their cookbook which has some great recipes and amazing photos of their food. My only complaint about the cookbook is that it doesn’t have the recipe for the Mayan Truffle (which we sampled at the bridal fair and is awesome). Definitely our new ‘go to’ spot when we visit Sedona.

We went to Heartline after the Sedona marathon based on the Yelp reviews. We were pleasantly surprised. We had excellent service and phenomenal food. The pecan crusted trout was perfect. This is a great restaurant with a fabulous menu. It has a wide range of selections for dinner, including light meals and regular meals. They also have many health options available. We had dumplings that were soaked in tea as an appetizer. Their flavor was outstanding. In our group we ordered a fish dish, crab cakes, wine, and a chocolate mocha mousse pie. The prices ranged from about $12 for the light dinners and $25 for the larger dinners.
We also returned for lunch another day and had a delicious fresh trout meal and a Super BLT. Again, the food was delicious. We also dined outside on the patio.
What we liked most was that the menu was not the “usual.” It provided many dishes that we had never had at other restaurants. They must have some fantastic chefs!

We enjoyed our meal here tremendously. It’s a cozy place with creative food. We were greeted promptly by hostess and server. I had the warm red cabbage and chèvre salad. Delicious! Main courses were the roasted butternut squash pasta and the portobello mushroom on polenta. We are not vegetarians but went for those options anyway. They were both delicious We’d definitely recommend this restaurant.

The trout was fantastic! This is my second visit while vacationing. I’ll make it a must-do for return vacations. Also, we were there on Saturday night and the guitar music added a lot tot the ambiance.
