Reviewed June 18, 2012Had a great experience at this yummy and cozy little gem!! Food was delicious, perfectly seasoned and the service was fantastic. Our waiter was so lovely and helpful that we actually asked to speak to the manager and let her know. She, too, was very nice and appreciative of the compliment. We enjoyed this restaurant much more than the expensive one at our hotel. Would highly recommend it!
Reviewed June 17, 2012We enjoyed the ambiance including the original artwork. The food was excellent. And the service attentive.
Reviewed June 12, 2012Stopped here after the place we wanted to have dinner was closed. Once again, got lucky.Sat in the outdoor patio which is cozy and quaint. Food was outstanding. Service excellent. Bartender and his wife were really nice people while we had a glass of wine while awaiting our table.

Reviewed March 17, 2012 NEWThis is a great restaurant with a fabulous menu. It has a wide range of selections for dinner, including light meals and regular meals. They also have many health options available. We had dumplings that were soaked in tea as an appetizer. Their flavor was outstanding. In our group we ordered a fish dish, crab cakes, wine, and a chocolate mocha mousse pie. The prices ranged from about $12 for the light dinners and $25 for the larger dinners.
We also returned for lunch another day and had a delicious fresh trout meal and a Super BLT. Again, the food was delicious. We also dined outside on the patio.
What we liked most was that the menu was not the “usual.” It provided many dishes that we had never had at other restaurants. They must have some fantastic chefs!
Reviewed March 4, 2012Friendly, attentive service, nice selection of meat and fish entrees and small plates.
We enjoyed our meal here tremendously. It’s a cozy place with creative food. We were greeted promptly by hostess and server. I had the warm red cabbage and chèvre salad. Delicious! Main courses were the roasted butternut squash pasta and the portobello mushroom on polenta. We are not vegetarians but went for those options anyway. They were both delicious We’d definitely recommend this restaurant.
Really great meal during our stay in Sedona. Service was excellent. Food was delicious. Waitress very helpful with suggestions. Would dine again and recommend.
The trout was fantastic! This is my second visit while vacationing. I’ll make it a must-do for return vacations. Also, we were there on Saturday night and the guitar music added a lot tot the ambiance.
Reviewed February 24, 2012Just enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Heartline Cafe. The service was very good, several interesting items are available on the menu and the quality of the food was excellent. This restaurant offers a nice relatively casual setting that is worth a visit from anyone staying in Sedona and looking for a enjoyable evening. The price was moderate given the quality of the meal. Try the pear dessert too. It was excellent.
Reviewed February 22, 2012unique warm red cabbage salad with goat cheese and an incredible pancetta wrapped filet mignon…..incredible.. bought the cookbook.
Reviewed February 16, 2012Locally owned which is a PLUS++++ The owners have made a commitment to offering the freshest food from the best possible sources, many times organic or locally grown. I prefer eating out on the patio right in front of the kiva fireplace. It is very lovely outside with vines and flowers and a nice view of the beautiful Sedona skies. We have always had good food & drinks at reasonable prices. The restaurant is right off 89A. You must make a reservation to get a good table because this place gets pretty busy year ’round.

Reviewed January 21, 2012I discovered the Heartline in the late 90′s when I first started vacationing in Sedona. It is owned by a local couple, Charles and Phyllis Cline. Charles heads up the kitchen and is a fine chef. You may see Phyllis from time to time in the dining area welcoming her guests. The menu is not overly complicated and has a nice array of selections to choose from. I tried the steak dish on my last visit and it was excellent: perfectly cooked to order with wonderful flavor. A few days earlier I also dined there and had their signature dish – and my personal favorite – Pecan-Crusted Trout with Dijon Cream Sauce. I would highly recommend this dish to anyone; the fish comes from a local provider and is always fresh and delicious. A lady friend of mine often orders several of the appetizers instead of an entree. The soups are excellent and highly recommended. If I had one complaint about the Heartline it would be the desserts. It’s not the quality I have a problem with; being a male I just would like to see something a bit more hardy. The ladies, however, seem to like them very much. A fire two years ago shut the restaurant down for an extensive time but they are back on line and seem to be doing well. The reopening brought some new members to the wait staff including a yong man named Dave. If you have a chance to dine here ask for him by name: he’s a gem.
Reviewed January 20, 2012 NEWWe’ve eaten here before and were glad that we returned. It isn’t very big, but you can make reservations. The food and the service are superb. We had a great time.

Reviewed January 17, 2012Attended on New Years eve- a classical guitarist added to the ambiance. Our waitress was most attentive, anticipating all our needs. The hummus starter should be shared as it is huge and had a nice selection of fresh and marinated vegetables. We had the filet mignon and lamb entrees- cooked to perfection and very tasty. The wine list has a good variety of choices to compliment the menu. We ended with a creme brulee- one of the best I have ever had. Will definitely go back when we are in the area.

The food was amazing. We loved everything we ate especially the lobster on blini and the poached pear dessert. I’ll will be back for sure!
Food was excellent. Advice regarding wine selection was superb. Overall ambiance was delightful and friendly. Other guests were interactive. Great find.

Reviewed November 12, 2011 NEWArrived on a Saturday afternoon in Sedona looking for a place to eat near our motel — We saw The Heartline Cafe and called for reservations for 2– We were told it didn’t look good for later reservations but if we could arrive by 6:30 p.m. (which was about 15 minutes from the time we called) we could be seated — It didn’t take long after our arrival for the restaurant to fill up with customers — and what a nice waitress we had — She was very attentive despite being busy with tables around us — I ordered the grilled salmon and loved it — If in Sedona again, I would definitely eat here –

Phenomenal service. Great atmosphere. Great menu. Excellent food.
Reviewed November 12, 2011 NEWWe are very picky breakfast eaters and our breakfast experience at Heartline was nothing short of perfect. From the seat yourself, grab some (fabulous) coffee, to the AMAZING crab Benedict, this place is outstanding. We will recommend to our friends as well as be back tomorrow!
Reviewed November 7, 2011The food is always great and reasonable with a unique menu.

This is a really good restaurant. The food is well-prepared and very tasty. They don’t add every ingredient under the sun, like some “fine dining” US restaurants, but rely on the flavour of good quality produce. An excellent experience.
Not to be missed in Sedona!!
The best meal we had in Sedona.
Reviewed October 17, 2011 NEWWe relaxed in the outside patio, listened to a guitar player and enjoyed the beautiful night and the smell of the real wood fireplace. My portabello mushroom entree was excellent. My husband’s noodles with Thai veggies was so, so, but that’s because he was indecisive about his meal. Healthy, lighter choices…
Reviewed October 13, 2011 NEWWe had a great dinner at this lovely restaurant. The service was excellent with a very attentive waiter and great staff. We loved the Garlic sauteed lobster chunks with corn blinis and for an entre the Pecan crusted trout with Dijon cream sauce.

I hope my husband will make the meals I ate in this special Sedona restaurant.
Reviewed October 12, 2011 NEWWe selected The Heartline Cafe to cater our wedding in Sedona. After the tasting, we liked the food so much, we asked them to host our rehearsal dinner. After that tasting, we liked the restaurant so much that we asked them to cater our wedding brunch. In short, nothing else in Sedona compares. Whether it’s picking up sandwiches for a picnic or coming by for a romantic dinner, they are the best at everything they do.
Reviewed October 12, 2011 NEWWe just returned from a weekend in Sedona celebrating my son’s wedding. We had the rehearsal dinner at Heartline out on their adorable patio. It had begun to rain unexpectedly only shortly before and the staff were busily putting up tents which we had thought would not be necessary. They were quick and courteous. We started with their delicious guacamole and chips and had pork medallions and salmon for dinner entrees on the buffet table. They also served a wonderful jicama salad. Everyone raved and that was just the beginning of Heartline’s magic. They prepared the food for the wedding buffet as well and the pecan encrusted trout and the filet got requests for seconds! And there’s more. At the morning after brunch, guests were treated to the best quiches that I have ever tasted and delicious uniquely seasoned breakfast burritos delivered to the brunch location! I only wish that I lived closer and could go again this week! Don’t miss this gem! The owners have done it right and are so pleasant to work with!!!! Thanks, Heartline!
Reviewed October 6, 2011Thus place shows that you can have an interesting menu with creative chouices, without necessarily upcharging to outrageous prices. Each entree comes with a salad. They allow two people to split one entree with an extra $5 charge so that both will get a full salad. SO, we ordered two appetizers, and each got a salad. and split an entree. That was plenty of food, and we are big eaters. Ordered the special chicken-peanut dumplings ($10) and the gorgonzola pear torte ($12). Both were great. We split the pecan crusted trout with cream sauce ($24), and it was awesome. With the salad, its a full meal for $46 before tax and tip, unless you also order wine, as we did. W e wouild definitely return the next time we are in Sedona.
Reviewed September 30, 2011This is a place you have to eat at in Sedona. It has the best Kobe Beef hamburger in the area…huge!! . Their french toast with the lemon sauce is wonderful for breakfast.
“Excellent food, ambiance and value – worth eating here”
Reviewed August 27, 2011
This is a great dining option in Sedona. The food is excellent, with nice sized portions and value pricing. We enjoyed everything here.
The restaurant has an elegant inside dining area, and a romantic patio with light strings (no view though). We sat outside on the patio (it was nice to dine outside after being cooped up in the heat of Phoenix), and it was comfortable and a nice experience.
The restaurant has small plates for about $10, and meals for $25 to $30. My wife and her sister shared the gaspacho, lobster bilini and hummus plates. They all had generous portions and the the lobster bilini had many lobster claws, an excellent value. I had the pancetta wrapped filet, which was cooked perfectly and came with a dinner salad. I would definitely recommend all of these items.
For dessert, my wife and sister got the sampler, which was large plate of white chocolate mousse, sorbet, cheesecake and another item. it was enough for 3+ people. I had the mocha chocolate mousse, which was fantastic.
All-in-all we had a wonderful meal for 3 people for about $100. They offer a 10% discount for cash, so bring some cash and save!
Reviewed August 22, 2011We sort of just bumped into this restaurant as we were wandering along 89A in West Sedona. At first I thought the setting was a little too fancy for our 6 and 9 years old boys. But to our surprise, it was very family friendly and has a pretty good kids’ menu. My older boy loved the Kobe sliders which had a very intense beef taste. This was the first time he said something like that about a burger. The filet mignon and peppered pork tenderloin were perfectly cooked and very flavorful. The prices were reasonable considering the quality and being in Sedona. The wine list was a little short but the selection was good and the prices are very low. We definitely will go back when we visit Sedona again.
Reviewed August 12, 2011While visiting Sedona we ate at the restaurant once and the Cafe for breakfast twice! It is among my happy memories as it was a place that it all came together: atmosphere, energetic food and friendly service. I recommend Maureen’s scones:) and the Sedona Sunrise to start your day – I am still dreaming about them. The tuna for dinner was generous and tasty.
Reviewed August 8, 2011We have been to this lovely little restaurant each time we have visited Sedona and we have been extremely happy every time! The atmosphere is cozy and somewhat quaint- never stuffy or formal. The service is always top notch with multiple servers making sure our water glasses were full and our food was up to our expectations. The food itself has always surpassed our expectations. We can rarely get through the small plate menu to the main courses because the always look so good. So, we usually order several small plates and share them. The portions are huge and we always bring leftovers home for a lovely snack the next afternoon. We could not recommend this place more highly.
Reviewed August 7, 2011We arrived expecting a nice meal but we got a great one. Friendly welcome and seated straight away in a nice table. Fresh hot bread on the table immediately and drinks ordered straight away. A good range of starters and I enjoyed my crab cakes and my wifes Bleack bean cake was excellent. We had very attentive service and the main coiurses -Pasta and and very rare (as requested) tuna were both excellent but better was to come. We had seen some very yummy looking deserts going to other guests and weakened and ordered the Chocolate expresso mousse and it was OUTSTANDING. Heartline is a little way out of the centre of things but is well worth finding-dont be put off by the name “Cafe” its fine dining at decent prices
Reviewed July 25, 2011We are in town visiting from Ohio. Based on recommendations from friends we tried the Heartline. Everything about it was great. I can honestly say I had the best steak I’ve ever eaten at the Heartline. Service was attentive and gracious. Wish we were going to be here a bit longer. I’d find an excuse to go back for another meal.
Reviewed July 15, 2011A neat little find on the main highway in Sedona – Heartline Cafe. They had an awesome sushi-grade tuna appetizer with creamy wasabi sauce and cracker (?) points. We went back a second time because it was so good the first time and they added macadamia nuts to the recipe. They were good too but the dish really didn’t need them. Friendly service, fair price, nice wine list.
Reviewed June 28, 2011We were referred to the Heartline Cafe by the Rainbow Trout Farm so they could cook the trout we caught. Unfortunately no one told us to change the fish gut t-shirts we were wearing before dinner! The restaurant was beautiful (compared to us) and the service was excellent! The waitress made us feel welcome and joked with us despite our attire (and probably smell). Of the plates we ordered our favorites include the pecan crusted trout (of course), the pecan crusted chicken, and the chicken pesto pasta. Only tips are to call ahead (we had to wait while they finished a large party, wedding or something) and wear that one “nice” shirt you stuffed in your luggage. You won’t regret it!
Reviewed June 19, 2011We’ve been fans of Heartline Cafe forever! We manage to get there once a year or two and look forward to dinner, a box lunch for our hike; and breakfast, at least once. We’ve never been disappointed. The food has been fresh, delicious and inventive. We took home their cookbook so we wouldn’t have to “go without” for a year.
The service is fine and we like the atmosphere of a successful, hard-working local restaurant with some history. I look forward to their e-mails and enjoy watching the menu change with the seasons, whether we can be there or not.
Reviewed May 31, 2011I just hosted a brunch here for 50 people. I live in Wisconsin, so it was all done by phone and email. Working with Phyllis, the owner, was an absolute pleasure. She was so knowledgable, flexible, and accommodating. We arrived and found a totally charming restaurant. They were all set up for us inside, but the beauty of the day had everyone gathering on the patio. No problem for this staff! They simply reset us outside, including bringing out the flower centerpieces (which they so generously had provided us). The food was GREAT! Don’t even consider missing that lemon cream stuffed French toast. It was worth every calorie. We loved everything on the brunch. Everyone commented that, not only was the food fresh, hot, and excellent, but the atmosphere was charming, relaxing and very special.
If you want to host a party, I really recommend this. It will be a stress free, great experience. If you simply want a good place to eat, don’t miss this one!

I first contacted Heartline to cater our wedding held on May 13, 2011. From beginning to end, the staff and management went above and beyond. From menu suggestions (as they have a vast selection to choose from!), design, rentals and set up, handling my random frantic phone calls (as we planned from 3000 miles away), check ins, confirmations and general comforting – Heartline remained professional and never ceased to treat us “real”. Our wedding was small and intimate, but we were still treated like number one, like we were of upmost importance and always with caring and loving spirits from everyone on their team.
Prior to our big day, we visited the Café for breakfast. Again, Dani and Phyllis both took the time out of their busy wedding season / catering / restaurant running schedules to meet us, hug us, greet our family, and engage in everyday normal conversation with all of us – again, as if we were the most important people.
Our extremely last minute request for Heartline to deliver sandwich trays to the “Guys” and “Girls” hotel rooms for a wedding day lunch was responded to with pleasure and eagerness! They actually delivered more than expected and on time!
The heart and soul this team puts into EVERY aspect of their business brings me to tears. I can’t thank them enough for everything they did for us and our family in the six days we were in beautiful Sedona.
The following morning we absolutely had to do breakfast again. I brought 4 of our wedding guest with us this time, and without fail, we were all greeted and treated like royalty.
So, in summary:
Amazing food and very reasonably priced.
Amazing, caring, loving and courteous staff.
Beautiful catering – highly recommended for anyone needing this service!
Beautiful restaurant ambiance.
PERFECTION IN EVERY WAY!
My ONE HUGE COMPLAINT… is that I can’t be there every morning to enjoy the Lemon French Toast with Cherry Honey and Maple Syrup!
Dear Phyllis,
Your take home Thanksgiving dinner was delicious. The best part was that I was able to go for a hike with my family that morning and didn’t have to worry about cooking! Thank you so much.
Sincerely,
Marion Diamond
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Cline,
Last night, we brought our family to your wonderful restaurant to celebrate my birthday. As always, the food was outstanding – and the scallop special was perfectly heavenly!
Being a special occasion, we ordered a variety of desserts. When our bill arrived, we received the very kind news that your hostess, Laura, had bought our desserts for us…and she didn’t even know it was a birthday celebration. Her thoughtfulness will keep bringing us back to Heartline.
Thank you,
Harleen Roncaglia
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful dinner here on 23 Dec, 2010. We had tried some more expensive local restaurants over the previous few days and based on those experiences we didn’t have great expectations for Heartline Cafe. I’m happy to report that it exceeded all the local competition that we tried for quality and value.
I had what I told was one of their signature dishes, the pecan crusted trout, and my girlfriend had a pasta special with chicken, tomatoes, basil, and garlic. We shared the roasted pear and butternut squash soup and a salad to start. Service was timely and attentive, so perhaps the restaurant owners are reading some of the previous Yelpers’ complaints about service. Our soup, salad, and main courses all arrived exactly as needed and not a moment early or late.
“The food was all expertly prepared and tasty. I ate every morsel of my trout with gusto. My girlfriend did not eat all her pasta and so I was able to try some of her dish. Although the dish was simple in concept and had a friendly price of around $16 (compared to the trout at $23), none of the quality or ingredients had been sacrificed. The tomatoes were outstanding, particularly given that it was winter time. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and the pasta nicely al dente. – I want to return to Heartline the next time I’m in Sedona.”

“What can we say about Heartline Cafe’ other than “Thank YOU!” Heartline and its owners and employees were so wonderful to work with as we planned our Sedona wedding. Everything from Phyllis’ recommendation of Reverend Shanandoah Sterling, who was such a blessing and who made our ceremony so special, to the incredible food and fabulous staff. Not a single person left the reception without commenting on how much they enjoyed the meal. The presentation was as spectacular as the food itself. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely recommend Heartline Cafe’ to anyone catering an event in Sedona, or even just looking for a great place to eat. We will definitely be in for more next time we are in town!”

“My knowledge of wine is limited, mostly because I only pay attention to wines I enjoy, but my enjoyment and my knowledge were both expanded by the wine pairings at Heartline Cafe last Thursday. I finally met a Chardonnay that was not too sharp and not too sweet, maybe because it was paired with a delicious Tuna Poke, or maybe because it is a blend of various Chardonnays. Each of the five courses was progressively more delightful, culminating in a heretically complicated Zin served with a tasty Filet Mignon. I thought making a great wine was an art but I became convinced, talking with the folks from the Michael David Winery, that making wine is at least 60% cold, hard science and maybe only 40% artistry. Whatever the percentages, it takes a wealth of knowledge to do what they do, and it takes a chef like Chuck to arrive at the pairings that show off both the food and the wine as the gifts from the earth that they truly are. I will remember this event for a long time and I am so happy that I caught it.” – Thom Dougherty
